Visible and near-infrared microdisk resonators on a 4H-silicon-carbide-on-insulator platform

چکیده
Wavelength-sized microdisk resonators were fabricated on a single crystalline 4H-silicon-carbide-on-insulator (4H-SiCOI) platform. By carrying out micro-photoluminescence measurements at room temperature, we show that the support whispering-gallery modes (WGMs) with quality factors up to 5.25 × 10 3 and mode volumes down 2.61 ( ? / n stretchy="false">) visible near-infrared wavelengths. Moreover, demonstrated wavelength-sized exhibit WGMs whose resonant wavelengths are compatible zero-phonon lines of silicon related spin defects in 4H-SiCOI, making them promising candidate for applications cavity quantum electrodynamics integrated photonic circuits.

Near-infrared III-nitride-on-silicon nanophotonic platform with microdisk resonators.
We have developed a nanophotonic platform with microdisks using epitaxial III-nitride materials on silicon. The two-dimensional platform consists of suspended waveguides and mushroom-type microdisks as resonators side-coupled with a bus waveguide. Loaded quality factors up to 80000 have been obtained in the near-infrared spectral range for microdisk diameters between 8 and 15 μm. We analyze the...

We demonstrate a silicon carbide (SiC) microdisk resonator with an intrinsic optical quality factor of 6.19×10(3), fabricated on the 3C-SiC-on-Si platform. We characterize the temperature dependence of the cavity resonance and obtain a thermo-optic coefficient of 2.92×10(-5)/K for 3C-SiC. Our simulations show that the device exhibits great potential for cavity optomechanical applications.

متن کاملSpatial mapping of multimode Brownian motions in high-frequency silicon carbide microdisk resonators.
High-order and multiple modes in high-frequency micro/nanomechanical resonators are attractive for empowering signal processing and sensing with multi-modalities, yet many challenges remain in identifying and manipulating these modes, and in developing constitutive materials and structures that efficiently support high-order modes. Here we demonstrate high-frequency multimode silicon carbide mi...
متن کاملHigh quality planar silicon nitride microdisk resonators for integrated photonics in the visible wavelength range.
High quality factor (Q approximately 3.4 x 10(6)) microdisk resonators are demonstrated in a Si(3)N(4) on SiO(2) platform at 652-660 nm with integrated in-plane coupling waveguides. Critical coupling to several radial modes is demonstrated using a rib-like structure with a thin Si(3)N(4) layer at the air-substrate interface to improve the coupling.
